Florida - Robbie ARPH #10811  Florida - Robbie ARPH #10811 Minimize

Please help Robbie ARPH #10811 (Florida)...

Robbie ARPH #10811 came to us via a groomer when his owner dropped him off with her because he could no longer care for him.  The owner had been out of a job for 7 months and just couldn't afford him.  Robbie was full of fleas and was having an allergic reaction to them; the continued itching caused his skin to become infected and hairloss on his hind end and legs, but this is the least of Robbie's problems.

Robbie also has hip problems and the vet feels it's congenital.  His left hip socket didn't form properly so therefore his leg does not fit in properly.  X-ray's showed it sitting above the socket. Robbie will need an FHO to help relieve the bone-on-bone pain he's probably been living with.  Unfortunately this is an expensive procedure but one he needs in order to live a long and happy painfree life.

Robbie is a very handsome 15 month old red merle youngster.  He is sweet and loving and just a happy go lucky guy who deserves a chance.  Won't you help him get that chance?

Won't you please help Robbie get the surgery and vet care he needs?

Robbie would like to say thank you to his sponsors:

South Carolina - Clint ARPH #9998  South Carolina - Clint ARPH #9998 Minimize

Please help Clint ARPH #9998 (South Carolina)...

Meet Clint ARPH #9998. He was rescued from a shelter in South Carolina that unfortunately requests the help of ARPH quite often. This particular shelter gets an alarming number of aussies in each month and ARPH does their best to help as many as possible.

Clint evaluated well acccording to our volunteer and the shelter staff all loved him. Said he was a couch potato that never soiled his kennel and when led outside, did his business and wanted right back in. His age was guessed at 2-3 yrs old. Hopes were high that an owner would show up to claim him, since he was already neutered and heartworm negative, a rarity here in the south. But this was not the case for Clint. No owner stepped forward, so Clint needed to come into rescue.

Once Clint was placed in an approved/experienced ARPH foster home and taken to a regular veterinarian, it was determined his age was actually 6 yrs old, not 2-3. We also found out Clint suffers from extreme hip dysplasia, to the point his only options are pain management by way of medications for the rest of his life, or total hip replacement. Clint has a life expectancy of 12-13 yrs and since long-term medication carries a severe threat to other organs in the body, it looks like surgery is the only safe, logical option for this sweet boy.

UPDATE: First off, I want to thank all of my sponsors, whose names appear at the end of my bio. Your generosity towards me is overwhelming. I would like to give you all a big Aussie kiss!

As it turns out, total hip replacement was going to cost rescue $8000-10,000. Realistically, this was not a goal ARPH could reach, so I am getting two FHO's instead. The cost of the two surgeries and the rehab I'll need is still going to cost $4000. It is going to take alot of donations to help me, but thankfully, ARPH thinks I am worth it. I hope you think I am worth it as well.

I had my first surgery on Jan. 15th. As you can tell from the pictures, I am recovering nicely, but the stitches itch, so I have to wear this "cone" thing so I don't bother the incision. I try not to bump into things with this on my head but it's hard since my peripheral vision is compromised, to say the least. I like my pre surgery pictures of me better, don't you?

I am a nice boy who hopes to have a forever home waiting for me when I am fully recovered from both surgeries. I am neutered, housebroken, great with all dogs, ok with cats, good traveler and a true people magnet. To top it all off, I am only 4 yrs young, so I have many years of joy/love/comfort/companionship to offer. If you are an approved ARPH adopter and think we have something to offer each other, please contact robinmccann@bellsouth.net  If not, and you want to adopt one of our rescued aussies, you may start by filling out the adoption application online at either www.aussierescue.org or www.carolinasaussies.net

Won't you please help us raise funds for Clint's surgery?

All donations are tax deductable.  Can you think of a better Valentine's day gift?  Show the one you love how big your heart really is, help me get my surgeries.

Clint wishes to thank his sponsors:

Ontario - Splash ARPH #10586  Ontario - Splash ARPH #10586 Minimize
Please help Splash ARPH #10586 (Ontario)...

Splash ARPH #10586 needs your help.  Last fall Splash was brought to the vets by his owner because of a small patch of skin on his head. Splash was diagnosed with Demodectic mange.  The vet also noted that the five-month-old pup was underweight.  The owner was given some medication to give to Splash.  April came around and the owners of Splash brought him back to the vets to be euthanized because they could no longer deal with Splash's skin condition. When asked by the vet if they gave Splash the medication that was given to him months before, the owners stated they forgot to give it to their dog. The vet was horrified of what he saw....it was the worst case of mange he had seen in a long time.  Splash was in terrible shape and was more than 10lbs underweight.  The staff at the vets refused to have Splash put to sleep because they said he was too sweet for such a fate. They asked the owners to sign him over to rescue. . .and they did just that.

After Splash's owners signed Splash over, the vet treated Splash for his condition.  Splash needed several kinds of tests, and he was treated for his mange, the secondary skin infection that was caused by the mange, and for the ear infections he also had because of the mange.  ARPH agreed to cover the large vet bill, and Splash will still need to see a vet for the next few months for further testing.

Splash is also VERY underweight and will need to remain in foster care for some time to get healthy.  He needs to gain 10-15 lbs and to grow back his fur.  He lost large amounts of hair, which has left most of his body bald. Because of the mange Splash is also losing chunks of skin, and as a result he has several open sores all over his body that will need time to heal.

Even after all of this Splash is a complete sweetie and a happy little boy who just wants to be loved.

Won't you please help ARPH pay for
Splash's vet care?

Splash would like to say THANK YOU to his sponsors!

Virginia - Jodi ARPH #10383  Virginia - Jodi ARPH #10383 Minimize

Please help Jodi ARPH #10383 (Virginia)...

This is Jodi ARPH #10383.  Jodi is about 5 years old and as sweet as they come.  She is a very gentle soul whose love for people is apparent from the first moment she sets her amber eyes on you.  She never lets on how awful she must be feeling.  In addition to an abscessed wound in her neck which has been slow to heal, both of Jodi's ears are almost completely blocked with tumors.  The tumors are the result of several years' worth of chronic ear infections and, as they've grown, they've blocked the infection in & sound from the world around her out.

To treat the deep seated infections and relieve Jodi's misery, she will need to have both ear canals removed & the chamber behind her ear drums cleaned out.  This surgery, called a total ear canal ablation & bulla osteotomy, can be done at the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine & will cost approximately $2,100.  That amount is about 1/2 the fee charged by most private veterinary surgeons but is still a significant expense in excess of ARPH's usual limit.  Her surgery can be scheduled just as soon as we have raised the funds to cover it.

Please help us raise the funds for Jodi's surgery...
