Dusty 11003

Dusty ~ ARPH #11003

Dusty is a 6 year old blue merle female, spayed, up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative, and housebroken. We have learned a lot about Dusty in the past few months while fostering her. We do know that she is a special girl that will require the patience of her new owners while adjusting to a new home.

When she arrived she was so different; very, very cautious. She has come to love us and enjoys affection and belly scratches, but only if it is her idea....a typical female! She can be silly and charming. To know her and how far she has come is to love her. She loves to chase anything moving therefore a fence is mandatory. She likes games like tug of war but we do not recommend them because it enforces her hidden or not so hidden alpha tendencies. We call her the "enforcer" because she is the first to bark and bother her Aussie foster brothers when she feels like things are getting crazy and that they need to settle down. She loves to run and run, and will follow the lawn mower for hours if she could.

Dusty loves to have her belly scratched, play ball (not so good at dropping it and again if she could play tug of war with a ball she certainly would), loves dinner time, really loves special treats, and loves cuddles with you on the couch (again only if it is her idea). She is extremely happy when we come home and jumps straight up in the air to let you know. As far as other dogs, well, she avoids confrontations with the other dogs but she will not back down if challenged. She is not really interested in playing with them but likes to hang around with them. She will avoid people she doesn't know and trust, and doesn't bother strangers as long as they don't bother her. Dusty should not really be placed in a home with children. She just doesn't like to be surprised with unannounced touching or the unpredictability of children's sudden movement. Therefore, a couple with no children, and a quiet home would be the best environment for her. Dusty is being fostered in Walkerton, IN.

If you are interested in Dusty, please contact Georganne Vervaet, ARPH Rescue Rep.

Josie ~ ARPH #12801

Introducing Silly Josie, ARPH #12801, in Porter Indiana. Josie is an 11-month-old, blue merle, female with a tail. She enjoys playing and makes us laugh with her silly ways.

Josie enjoys playing with all of the resident dogs and when they are not willing, she is happy to pick up a toy and play all by herself. She has met the resident cats and is not exactly sure what they are for; if they would run we bet she would chase. Josie is slightly shy when you first meet her but as long as she has a minute she will come right over to say hello. If there is a treat in your hand, she makes friends very quickly! This is very much an Aussie trait.

Josie must have been well socialized in her former home but not exposed to going new places. When we take her out she gets very nervous. We have been working with this and she is improving nicely. She even went along to a stranger’s house recently and made friends very quickly with the humans and dogs there. We are very proud of her brave little self! Josie does very well meeting new dogs.

Josie is crate trained and we do use it when we leave the house because she is very much still a pup and may find the wrong thing to play with, like a nice box of Kleenex. She has been very respectful of our shoes though, which is always a nice thing. Josie loves to be at her foster mom’s feet or nearby in the room and is always more than happy to come over for some petting. She will even give your arm a nice nudge when she needs a nice scratch behind the ears.

Josie is treat motivated and has a wonderful sit for a treat. Josie’s new family will need to take her out for nice walks and help her build her confidence in going new places so she can become a nice social adult dog. Josie has shown interest in chasing cars so a fence would be in her best interest.

She is up to date on shots, spayed, micro-chipped and on heartworm prevention. Josie is crate and house trained.

If you are interested in adopting Josie, please contact Wynne Ton at w.ton@comcast.net. If you are not yet an approved adopter, please complete our adoption application.
