Brody

Brody ~ Kansas
  Male ~ 2 yo ~ Red Tri

Brody is a 2 year red tri male that has a lot of puppy left in him. Brody has not had the best beginning and when his foster mom rescued him from the shelter she vowed to find someone that would take the time and have the patience to show Brody all the good that life had to offer.

Brody is housebroken and walks well on a leash. It takes Brody a little bit to warm up to new people and he really likes women over men, but will get along with a man with some hesitancy. On Brody's behalf, we think that has a lot to do with the early stages of his life and that a man was a little heavy handed with him, while the women in his life are treating him with kindness. Brody gets along wonderfully with other dogs. Because of Brody's insecurity around new situations, a fenced yard is a requirement.

Brody's foster home would love to find Brody a calm, quiet home with lots of patience that would like a very loyal dog to share their days. If that could be you, please contact Dagmar at dagmarradig@yahoo.com Brody is located in the Kansas City area.

Cheri

Cheri ~ Iowa
  Female ~ 2 yo ~ Red Tri

Cheri is a 1-2 year old red-tri Aussie. She is on the small side, standing about 17 inches tall, with a thick coat, and docked tail. She could use some grooming to remove mats. She was found as a stray in rural Iowa and taken to the Safe Haven Shelter in Williamsburg.

She is a very sweet girl, she loves, loves, loves human attention in any way possible. Once you start petting her, she flops over on her back for belly rubs & she can't get enough belly rubs! You can touch her anywhere, it's all good with her!

She does have 1 flaw, she does NOT get along with other dogs. She can coexist with a non-reactive dog peacefully in the kennel run next to her, but if she's in their presence outside of the kennel she'd really like to start a fight, even with a submissive dog.

Cheri will need a home that can keep her from getting into trouble with other dogs, she will need to be managed on walks or in public places with other dogs. If you are interested in additional information please contact the Safe Haven Shelter directly by phone at (319) 325-0150, and they can tell you more about her.

Socks

Socks ~ Kentucky
  Male ~ 1 yo ~ Black Tri

This little fellow is Socks. Socks was sprung as his time was running out in the shelter. He's smaller at 35 pounds and 9 months-1 year old.

He's a higher octane young Aussie who wants and needs lots of play time, with frisbee, running, or other similar activities to use up his considerable energy. His focus on his handler is intense so training him is a pleasure, but he's the sort of young fellow who needs his one-on-one time or he will find other fun things to do on his own. He needs outlets for his very bright mind and his youthful exuberance, and it will be another year or so till he starts to settle as he matures into an adult.

He loves people and is good with other dogs except very small ones, and that goes for cats, too: way too interested in them so no cat homes only for him. Older, more sedate or less play driven dogs might find him a bit too much.

Bandit Bob

Bandit Bob ~ Kentucky
Male ~ 6 yo ~ Blue Merle

If you are looking for a sweet, loving, easy-going boy, Bandit is your man.

Bandit is up to date on all vaccinations, neutered, heartworm negative and ready to go to his new home.

He has a very thick, coarse coat that will soften with time and good nutrition. He is a loyal and devoted companion who is a sponge for attention. And he’s smart! He enjoys ice cubes and knows when the icemaker is pressed. Tonight he was even jumping up to put his paws on the lever to get cubes to drop. He didn’t have it quite right but in a couple of days he will. He loves his food and knows to sit to have it put on the floor for him. The puppy pool was filled this evening and he happily stepped right in to cool himself off.

Bandit really does not like thunder so he would be best suited for a home where his human is home during the day or where thunderstorms are not so prevalent.

If you are interested in Bandit Bob, please complete an adoption application at NewSpirit4AussieRescue.org.

Quinn

Quinn ~ Kentucky
Male ~ 2 yo ~ Black Tri

Introducing Quinn, an absolutely beautiful black tri male. At 52 pounds, he still needs to gain a few more pounds, so you know he’s a big guy. He was a stray, so unfortunately his past is a big question mark. He is approximately two years old, and does not seem to have had much training. When I first asked him to sit, I got absolutely no response even when I tried to lure the sit. Quinn also would not make eye contact. I introduced him to a clicker and he quickly learned it was ok to look at my face. I don’t know if he was housebroken or not; he lifted his leg twice in the house in my presence and seemed to think nothing of it. I took Quinn and my clicker outside and waited for him to lift his leg. That seems to have done the trick; no more accidents in the house; however, he is closely supervised.

Quinn gets along with three of my four dogs; the fourth is a male who is not at all happy at having to share his mom with another male. He is my shadow when loose in the house, but he hasn’t shown any signs of resource guarding over me. However, he will get into it with my two girls over fresh bones. I think he’d be fine in a home with another dog if that dog is easy-going and fairly large.

Quinn has used his front teeth to "nibble" on my arm when excited. The person(s) who adopt him have to know how to deal with this issue or it could become a major problem. If you think 50 pound puppy, you’re on the right track. Although he seems to be a rather low key sort of guy, when Quinn starts playing and running around, he doesn’t have a real good idea yet of where his body and legs are. He has run over my smaller females, and he would run into me if I let him. Because of this and the "nibbling," Quinn needs a home with no children, and with someone who will be consistent in curbing his herding behavior and willing to do some obedience work with him. He is an obedient dog already, but taking him to a structured class will help him understand where his body is in relationship to his handler and give him a mental workout. Believe me, if I didn’t have four dogs already, he would be staying here forever.

Additional photos of Quinn are available on request.

Please go to NewSpirit4AussieRescue.org and complete an adoption application if you are interested in making Quinn a part of your family.
