Danny ~ ARPH #11622
Danny is a very handsome, dark blue merle, approx. 6-7 years old. He is quiet and very easy to be around. Danny came into rescue at the beginning of the year with a bad case of kennel cough, frostbite, a broken canine tooth and an extremely wobbly gait. He may have sustained some sort of trauma in the past because he also seems to have very little hearing. It was determined that he had a bulging disc in his spine and was in constant pain. Danny had surgery a couple months ago to correct the disc and is slowly regaining his mobility, but will never be your typical active Aussie.
Danny gets along well with other dogs, cats, horses, adults and kids, and he LOVES to travel! He is content on a leash at a horse show or just hanging out in the yard.
He should be walking each day to build up his muscles in his hind end. He currently can walk about 10 minutes before he slows down to a snail's pace. He has spurts of playfulness that last about 5 minutes and then he is back to his lazy, old self.
Danny acts like he can hear a clap close up but he does not respond to voices at all - leading us to believe he is basically deaf. Because he cannot hear he has to be watched closely whenever he is outside. A fenced yard would be ideal to keep Danny safe. He's not a runner but has occasionally wandered out of the yard. He also has to be watched around cars because he has fallen asleep under or behind cars and then does not hear them when they start.
Danny is kind to everyone and he seems to seek out young children. He is closest to his foster mom and he loves kisses. Danny likes to be brushed and scratched and likes to cuddle. He is an outstanding dog and deserves a loving family to give him all the attention he needs.
Danny is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccinations and HW preventative. He is being fostered in the Traverse City, MI area. If you are interested in meeting him, please contact Peggy at chezmoose@gmail.com.
